Jovita Carranza was born to first-generation Mexican-American parents. Ms. Carranza served as Deputy Administrator of the United States Small Business Administration from December 2006 to January 2009. She was appointed by President George W. Bush and unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate. Prior to her appointment, Ms. Carranza was Vice President for Air Operations for UPS, the world’s largest package delivery company. In that post, she became the highest-ranking Latina in the company’s history. In 2004, Ms. Carranza was named Woman of the Year for outstanding accomplishments throughout her career by Hispanic Business Magazine.

Ms. Carranza received her MBA from the University of Miami, and extensive additional management and financial training at the INSEAD Business School in Paris, the University of Michigan, and the University of Chicago.
